Run Rabbit Run
2024
Oil on Canvas, Stainles steel engraved frame
26 x 46 x 8 cm

Run Rabbit Run follows three rabbits, representing three generations of women, evoking a narrative of knowledge passed down from one generation to the next—and what gets lost along the way. Interweaving feminist undertones with surrealist imagery, the painting envisions a world where myth and reality collide. Three white streaks, representing rabbits glowing with otherworldly vibrance, inhabit a realm shaped by the sacred yet endangered betel nut. Many of the customs once practiced by the artist’s grandmother, such as the chewing of betel nut and its societal significance, are now fading.

Encased in the betel nut, the painting—along with its framing—becomes a symbol of communication, fostering connections between relatives and lovers. Both the rabbit and the betel nut embody the delicate, intangible essence of fertility and womanhood, weaving a fragmented yet symbiotic narrative of ancestral memory, vanishing traditions, and the enduring pulse of symbolism across time.
